The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a federally chartered 501(c)(3) corporation that places its highest priority on serving youth through gun safety and marksmanship activities that encourage personal growth and build life skills. The CMP actively promotes Three-Position Air Rifle shooting as a premier youth marksmanship competition by providing low-cost equipment and pellets as well as training curriculum materials and competition activities.

The International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF), a member of the International Olympic Committee, is the primary governing body for international shooting competition. The organization oversees 154 national (member) federations worldwide.

The National Three Position Air Rifle Council is a consortium of organizations that promotes three position air rifle shooting.  Organizations that belong to or support the Council work to  standardize competition rules, coordinate competitions and more effectively promote all youth shooting activities. Members include American Legion, BSA Venturing, Civilian Marksmanship Program,    4-H National Shooting Sports, US Army Marksmanship Unit, USA Shooting, and the National JROTC Commands for the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.

The objectives of JROTC are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill responsibility, character, and self-discipline, and provide instruction in air and space fundamentals.  The AFJROTC program is grounded in the Air Force core values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do.

The focus of Army JROTC is reflected in its mission, “To motivate young people to be better citizens”.   JROTC accomplishes the mission by providing exceptional educational opportunities and lifelong skills to America’s youth.  The curriculum helps cadets develop life-long leadership and decision making skills.

The NJROTC curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, as well as our maritime heritage, the significance of sea power, and naval topics such as the fundamentals of naval operations, seamanship, navigation and meteorology. Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by extra-curricular activities of community service, academic, athletic, marksmanship and physical fitness training, and other activities.

The purpose of the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program, commonly referred to as “Junior ROTC,” is to instill a value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. MCJROTC  focuses on citizenship, leadership, character, self-discipline, national security, and an understanding of democratic society.  
   







USA Shooting is chartered by the United States Olympic Committee as the National Governing Body for the sport of shooting .  The organization implements and manages development programs and sanctions events at the local, state, regional, and national levels; developing shooting athletes from grassroots to Olympic medals.

The 4-H Shooting Sports curriculum uses the resources of the land-grant university and the time, talent, and dedication of Cooperative Extension agents and certified 4-H leaders, instructors, and trainers who instruct 4-H members in firearms safety and marksmanship. The shooting disciplines include archery, muzzle loading, pistol, rifle, shotgun and hunting. Each discipline is taught by a National or State Certified Instructor.

The American Legion Junior Shooting Sports Program is a gun safety education and marksmanship program that encompasses the basic elements of safety, education, enjoyment and competition. Shooters use the .177 caliber air rifle. Junior Shooting Sports is a three-part program that combines the Basic Marksmanship Course, Qualification Awards and Air Rifle Competition into a well-rounded activity.
